ABOUT US

NNLE Climate Basics was established in 2020 in Tbilisi, Georgia. The non-profit organization mainly operates based on volunteer engagement and carries out the following activities in the fields of climate change and sustainable development policy, law and analysis:

1.

RESEARCH

  • Initiating and implementing Georgia- and the region-focused research activities and disseminating the findings to key stakeholders. Furthermore, developing the selected research papers database.

2.

INFORMATIONAL PLATFORM

  • Creating and managing a climate policy information online platform. The platform is designed for both informative as well as academic articles and views.

3.

EDUCATION and AWARENESS RAISING 

  • Raising awareness and mainstreaming the climate change topics and developing educational programs.  As a result, promoting participation and involvement of the informed public in the climate policy development, decision-making, implementation and monitoring processes.

4.

CONSULTING

  • Consulting services for public institutions, private companies, and international organizations.

5.

REGIONAL and INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

  • Bilateral and multilateral academic cooperation with research organisations and higher education institutions, as well as with international organisations, governmental, private, and non-governmental sectors.

OUR MISSION

The Climate Basics team recognizes that climate change is one of the biggest threats and challenges of our time. It is a complex phenomenon, and it is difficult to identify, define or delineate its causal links, or confine it within the traditional state policy boundaries. In addition, climate change is not only a natural/physical phenomenon, this process is progressively emerging as a social fact that is affected, perceived, and experienced differently by various groups in our society. Thus, this complex topic should not only be studied through the lens and frames of the natural sciences. That is why the NNLE Climate Basics team will be actively involved in research on climate justice, human rights, gender and social issues, and awareness-raising campaigns.

ORGANISATIONAL VALUES AND PRINCIPLES

  1. Managing and implementing activities and projects according to the core principles of sustainable development

  2. Respecting and guaranteeing fundamental human rights

  3. Promoting and respecting the equality principle of equality. In some cases, by taking special affirmative measures when planning and/or managing projects to ensure substantial equality and eliminate inequality between men and women, as well as other vulnerable groups

  4. Protecting and respecting the academic freedom of experts and researchers

  5. Ensuring transparency, participatory approaches and involvement of key stakeholders during implementation of activities and projects

WEBSITE GUIDE

  • PUBLICATIONS - Under the section Publications, there are three main sub-sections: research, translation, and library. Research - provides information on current and completed studies and publications implemented by NNLE Climate Basics. Translation - includes translated relevant scientific literature, texts, and articles on climate change (due to lack of human and financial resources, this activity has been temporarily suspended). Library - contains important state and international documents for Georgia's climate change policy, as well as Georgia-oriented studies conducted by various organizations. 

  • BLOG - is an informational platform as well as a platform for academic articles and views. Articles are published in Georgian and only on climate change or related issues.
